The Mike Duda Memorial Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in memory of Mike Duda, a long time and very talented member of the Gratiot County Players Community. Mike passed away on March 8, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mike's love of and contributions to the Gratiot County Players spanned many years and to honor that commitment the scholarship that bears his name is used to assist youth who are interested in the theater, both as audience members and participants. To date many young people have been assisted by this scholarship and we would like to ensure that it continues.

Mike had great artistic talents which he loved sharing with his community. Singing, acting and creative art were his passions. The Gratiot County Players have become his second family and in 2009 he was honored with the Gwen and Carew LeBlanc award in recognition of his outstanding performances and service to the Players. The memories of his quiet grace and highly esteemed talents, both on-stage and behind the scenes at the Strand Theater will ever continue to enrich our lives.

If you would like to dontate to the Mike Duda Memorial Scholarship fund please mail your contribution along with a note indiciating the donation is for Mike's fund. Please mail to:

If you are interested in directing a show at the Gratiot County Players, please send an email with your
name and experience to our director selection Chairperson. Laurie Harrision:

The Gratiot County Players wish to acknowledge the generosity of the Gratiot County Community Foundation for awarding a grant to install an assisted listening system for our theater. The system will allow hard of hearing patrons to fully enjoy our shows by providing a receiver that picks up transmissions from the sound system. We are starting with four units and will expand those if the need is demonstrated. Our first show to use the system was our December 2011 production of "White Christmas." The units will be available at the sound booth on a first come, first served basis. Patrons using the system will be asked a few questions after each show to provide feedback to the GCP Board of Directors and the granting agency.
